The mission of Dance Visions
NY is to communicate and express visceral human emotion and experiences through movement and dance. To this end we present both original works as well as works of the dance pioneers, particularly Isadora Duncan
.
Dance Visions attests to the power of the body to communicate the human condition.
"As a choreographer, I believe in the power of dance to capture that which is often intangible and difficult to communicate verbally. I believe nuances and fleeting characteristics of movement and music can capture life's characteristics. My vision as a choreographer is to encapsulate and communicate the potential in these moments and to cherish and communicate human experience in all stages of life".
Beth Jucovy, Company director, choreographer.
The works of Isadora Duncan express the essence and beauty of nature, the universal archetypes of mythology, a full scope of emotion and even political movements. Isadora's underlying philosophy and understanding of movement are apparent in her dances and immediately connect with people. In her work we see the human condition in the natural world: We see the profound: beauty, pain and hope through art.
We hope to expose people to the joy, scope, and richness of dance as a vital and living art. Through presenting the authentic Duncan works we hope preserve and give life to Duncan's artistic visions, technique and repertory. Dance Visions
NY aspires to continue the Duncan artistic legacy through both preserved works and original works that take on a different form in the modern world. Through both dance classics and original works, our mission is to express our shared humanity and the complex and subtle shadings of emotion.
