Recent News

We presented a thirty minute program for the Waterside Dance Festival on Aug. 15. Four groups presented programs outdoors by the East River. We performed 3 short Duncan "nature" solos (Butterfly etude, Waterstudy and Seagull), Day Remembered a duet for Jessie Tomanek and Johnny DeArden, and our 10 minute "Emergence" taking on it's outdoor face. ● Dance Visions presented the last of their series of 2009 programs, Dances of Nature/Dances of Interactions in the auditorium at the Hewlett/Woodmere Library on Monday evening, Aug. 3 at 7:30 PM . It was a beautiful, fun, creative and award winning program that all enjoyed. and Lovely venue. we WILL MISS doing it!!!

Dance Visions was delighted to be the recipient of a NGA grant in support of performances in 2009 of Dances of Nature/Dances of Interactions at Nassau County library theaters and the Long Island Children's Museum. thanks to the North shore Community Arts Council for sponsorship!

● We presented Isadora and the American Jewish Experience for the Workman's Circle, at Circle Lodge, another amazing experience. Perfect venue and audience for this very moving program. Dance Visions wishes to thank Tova, David and Adrienne of Workman's Circle for their very generous reception and hard work. Thanks to Shirley Romaine too!

● We are delighted to have presented an evening of dance celebrating the 50th anniversary of the public opening of Old Westbury Gardens on July 18th. We performed throughout the evening in various beautiful gardens. We danced Isadora Duncan repertory as well a segment to MidSummer Night's Dream, original Jucovy choreography.  Both Dance Visions and children from Children Dancing danced in programs. Live music. It was an absolutely magical night for the performers and audience!  Midsummer's night Eve.

●Dance Visions was selected to present "Emergence" at the ADG festival in collaboration with AOM in Ridgewood NJ on July 18 and "Shades of Blue" for the silk arts Festival in Paterson NJ on July 25. Both were wonderful festivals we were proud to be part of.

 In July, Beth co-taught along with Patti Dunham (music) and Nancy Schneider (visual art) the 2009 Summer Aesthetic Education  workshop for  teachers and training Teaching artists in the school partnership program. It was an extremely successful workshop with exciting insights and learning for all involved. The focus work (dance and music) was the fabulous "Billy Elliot"

● Children Dancing 22nd Annual concert was held at the Landmark Theater in Port Washington, Sunday June 21 at 4:30. The most creative, original, exciting dance school performance in town!

● We were part of the Isadora Duncan Birthday Celebration in Central Park on Wed. May 27  Dancers from Dance Visions as well as from Children Dancing joined other Duncan dance groups outside at Bethesda Fountain, Central Park on 72nd St, mid- park Program arranged by Catherine Gallant.

This past year through Tilles center's School Partnership program Beth worked with students and teachers at the Portledge School in Locust Valley, the Landing School in Glen Cove, and the Bayview Ave. School and Columbus Ave. school in Freeport in workshops related to performances they see at Tilles center in 2009. She also conducted the family workshop in March at Tilles for their performance of "The National Acrobats of China."

In April and May Beth conducted a continuing education class at LIU, Post campus, for the Hutton House Lecture Series about Alvin Ailey and his signature work, Revelations. She had also conducted a History  of Ballet course related to the performance of Prokofiev's Cinderella performed by the State Ballet Theatre of Russia in January. She also conducted a workshop for graduate students related to Alvin Aileys Revelations.

● Dance Visions was part of 60x60 at Galapagos! We were one of 60 companies/dancers performing one minute of choreography to music of one of 60 new compositions. We were all randomly given our one minute of music. Beth's choreography with Beth, Chelsea Koenig and  Jessie Tomenak. The project was performed at the Galapagos Art Center in Apr.

● Dance Visions premiered their new 2009 program, Dances of Nature/Dances of Interactions at the Long Beach Library on Sunday March 22 at 3:00. Beautiful, fun and creative program all  enjoyed! we performed it at Jericah on May 17 and syosset on June 6. wonderfully received.

● Dance Visions presented "Emergence" at the Shambhala Meditation center in Manhattan on FRIDAY, MARCH 20 FOR THEIR international ARTS FESTIVAL to Wonderful reception! 118 West 22nd Street

Dance Visions performed Feb. 15 and 16 at the LI Children's Museum in their new "Dances of the Heart" at 1:00 and 3:00 both days. Also a Workshop at 11:00 on Monday, Feb. 16 (President's Day). New program, with dances related to the museum's monthly theme, the heart. Dances of many aspects of love as well as biology are presented. The style of the works include classical, jazz and contemporary. the dancers introduce the works and interact with the audience. It was an Exciting program for all ages!

Children Dancing's annual Nutcracker Tale" Winter showcase of Jazz and Modern class pieces was presented on Saturday, Jan. 24. 2009 at 6:30 PM in the auditorium of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Great Neck. 68 Grace Ave.  Free, public is welcome. Student dancers ages 4 - HS are joined by Dance Visions dancer Johnny DeArden and school alum Emily Krause. Choreography is by Beth, often in collaboration with the students. Narrated by Ms. Jucovy.

 Beth and Nichole Piacenza joined Adrienne Ramm and Thea Keats, Debra Orenstein and Mark Trider in an Isadora Duncan Dance program at the Fall for the Arts Festival at the  RIVA Art Gallery, 527 Main St. on Roosevelt Island. Saturday, Oct. 11 at 5:00.

Dance Visions performed at The Hatch, Saturday evening Oct. 4 at 8:00. The latest stage of our evolving, organic, totally original dance piece "Emergence." To those that came, Thanks for being a part of it's development! It was a very exciting showcase of works-in-progress. This program featured six diverse NYC choreographers at The Works studio, 131 W. 24 St. NY, NY
