Future Past Present : Unique Dance/Theater Works   We are excited to be exploring a new avenue of repertory including four works ranging in style and in artistic disciplines.

Future Past Present is a collaborative theater and movement piece conceived and under the direction of Beth Jucovy. We previewed the program at the LI Fringe Festival on Sept. 11, 2011 with excerpts of this major new theatrical work. With women spanning in age over three generations, it is a sample survey of the views and outlook of these women artists. The premise is a look from the future at the past (our present). Computerized characters, from the future, embody seven women of today, conveying a deep and personal  look at their views and attitudes. Issues explored include spirituality, discipline, conformity, love, loss and inspiration. The development of this work began  through a residency at the “Field,” NYC

Ms. Jucovy’s choreography is represented in this program with her works Blurred Boundaries and Wind Sonnet.   Blurred Boundaries intertwines responses to death with the concept of intersecting, alternate universes. To the music of The Kinks, Arvo Pärt and Jóhann Jóhannssohn, a being that is intangible and invisible is sensed by another. Intangibility and connectedness are woven throughout the piece, with a group of dancers in a busy and active world contrasted to the single dancer who is separated from, yet connected to them.

Wind Sonnet, a new work, is a lovely dance piece to Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto # 2 in E.  It demonstrates the joy of movement as it connotes the poetry of the wind.

Yuki Ishiguro’s  solo Another World will also be presented in this concert. Mr. Ishiguro is a talented dancer with a large range of expertise-including break dance, hip-hop, gymnastics, contemporary and classical dance. His choreography combines all these styles into fascinating,  contemporary fusion dance.

This project is made possible, in part, with public finds from the NYS Council on the Arts. In Nassau and Suffolk Counties the Long Island Decentralization Grants for the Arts is administered by The Huntington Arts Council. Additional support by the North Shore Community Arts council.
